The election is a part of the political process in the democracy and for every political system also employs the election as a symbol of the democracy. Democratic elections are periodic and Elected officials are accountable to the people, and they must return to the voters at prescribed intervals to seek their mandate to continue in office. Elections therefore, take place at regular intervals in Karachi Division and Divisional Administration takes part in the conduct of elections directly as DROs, ROs, AROs & MOs and sometimes indirectly providing administrative support to the Election Commission. General Elections for the Elections of members of National & Provincial Assembly and local Government Elections for local government representatives is held regularly in the Division. In addition, bye-Elections also take place as and when the need arises.
